First and foremost, this experience was far superior to the one we had in Cozumel! Honduras was breathtaking and so welcoming. We booked our excursion through Norwegian and met our tour guide at the end of the pier. It was around the corner from the shopping and a little hard to find. Once we arrived, we waited for a van to take us ziplining. The wait wasn’t too bad, about 10 minutes.
Once we got out of the gated pier area, we ran into a bit of a traffic jam. There was a car accident! We ended up turning around right in the road and going another way. The tour guide was a little difficult to understand, but she was pleasant enough. We learned about the importing/exporting in Roatan, agriculture, commonly made dishes and coconut oil.
We arrived about 25 minutes later and started to get ready for our ziplining trip. The company boasted about 12 lines totaling approximately two miles worth of ziplining through the jungle. It was breathtaking and so easy. Jose, our instruction/guide was fantastic. He explained the ins and outs of safety and demonstrated everything. It was great to see the visual and what not to do.
The first line was short, and I was grateful! I’d never been ziplining before and was really nervous. We were in a group of five, including my husband and myself. It was a small friendly group. I didn’t feel rushed or unsafe at any point in my two-mile journey. The weather was also cooperating. The humidity was cut in half with some light showers, and it was enjoyable. I’d worn workout clothing, so I was completely comfortable. The only thing I wish I had done was taken my phone. I was worried about it falling or having trouble keeping it secure. I should have taken it. But I will know for next time.
All I can say is that you should take this excursion! The jungle was amazing, and the ziplining was really relaxing. If you have fears of running into the wall at the end of the line, don’t. They have these blocks on the top cable that stop you, and the guide will slow you down if you are still coming in hot! I was so nervous about this part. Once I figured out those blocks were there, I stopped getting scared every time I hit them. If you can see them coming, it’s a lot better. With the light rain and the views, we had a wonderful time.
